So much information, so many questions. We can imagine how you feel. Below, you will find answers to the questions we hear most often. You are of course more than welcome to visit us and have your questions answered in person.
Can I eat and drink while undergoing the treatment?
Yes, if needed you can even take out the braces for a couple of hours.
Can I remove the braces whenever I want?
You remove the braces before eating. You can drink while wearing them but be careful of hot and/or sour beverages.
Does the treatment hurt?
No, you will only feel some pressure in the first few days after you switch to a new set of aligners.
How long does the treatment take?
The average treatment takes between 8 and 16 months.
Will my gums remain healthy?
Yes. Because you can easily clean them, your teeth and gums will remain in excellent health.
Which dental issues can be fixed?
Most dental aberrations can be fixed. You can find an overview here.
Can I choose to treat only my upper or lower teeth?
Yes, but it’s usually better to do both. The price will remain the same.
How often do I visit for a check-up?
Usually once every 2 to 3 months.
What is the minimum age for treatment?
There is no minimum age.
How do I keep my teeth straight after the treatment?
By wearing night retainers.
For how long do I wear each set of braces?
You replace the set every 14 days and you wear them for at least 22 hours every day.
What do I do if I lose or break an aligner?
Switch over to the next set and contact us.
Are there any side-effects?
In very rare cases, a previously accumulated allergy to plastics can be expressed. Dry mouth and temporary sensitivity on the inside of your mouth can occur.
I’m scheduled to receive crowns and/or inlays, can I have them placed during the treatment?
No, please contact your practitioner to discuss this.
I play sports or a musical instrument, can I still do this while wearing the braces?
In most cases, yes. Discuss this with your practitioner.
How much does the treatment cost?
Anywhere between 3.395 and 4.885 Euro. Read Invisalign costs.
Are the treatments covered by my insurance?
Adult orthodontics is not covered by the Dutch basic health insurance (basisverzekering). Some supplementary policies (aanvullende verzekering) reimburse part of the cost, usually up to an annual maximum. Always check your own policy.
