The patient bites badly, something that is sometimes very noticeable, but other times it is very light and barely noticeable.<\/p>\n<p>This is usually a consequence of a class II bad-occlusion, in which the maxilla is advanced relative to the mandible.<\/p>\n<p>Typically, in a person with a correct bite, the teeth of the upper and lower arches close with minimal overlap. In overbite patients, the maxillary front teeth can even completely cover the jaw teeth.<\/p>\n<p>When the upper incisors cover one third of the lower incisors, it is considered a deep overbite.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Problems associated with overbite<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This pathology generally triggers other types of problems, the main ones being:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The aesthetic problem. Overbite is usually accompanied by crowding of the upper canines and \/ or incisors. Although it does not necessarily happen in all patients.<\/li>\n<li>Patients end up biting their gums. This in turn generally generates periodontal and bruxism problems, which end up causing wear of the enamel of the lower arch parts.<\/li>\n<li>It also hinders oral hygiene and increases the tendency to have more cavities.
